AS Monaco Basket survived the comeback effort of Le Mans Sarthe Basket recording an 81-77 home win in Game 1 of ProA League Finals.

Despite trailing by a double-digit margin (36-24), Le Mans managed to bounce back and close the gap to a two-point margin (77-75) with thirty seconds left but that was as far as they could go. Although Monaco’s D.J. Cooper missed a shot from behind the arc in the following offense, Gerald Robinson grabbed an offensive rebound getting fouled in the process. He was calm from the free throw line both times securing the game for the hosts.

Christopher Evans led the victors with game-high 18 points while Elmedin Kikanovic added 16. Cooper also helped with 15 in addition to Robinson’s 14 points. On the other side, Romeo Travis scored 16 points and Chris Lofton was right behind with 15.

Game 2 of the best-of-five series is scheduled for Friday 15th of June as Monaco tries to increase the lead in front od their crowd.
