ASVEL Villeurbanne beat Strasbourg 89 – 88 on the road in a thriller of the game that was perhaps that highlight of Day 2 in the French Jeep Elite League.
Adreian Payne scored the game-winning free throws with 21 seconds remaining to make his own points 21. He was the top scorer in the game while also adding seven rebounds.
Jerai Grant led Strasbourg with 17 points.
In the meantime, Monaco rolled over Chalon/Saone behind 21 points and seven rebounds by Yakuba Ouattara. Veteran wing Mickael Gelabale finished with 20 points and six rebounds for the hosts.
