Galatasaray players issued a joint statement on the Turkish BSL League continuing holding games amid the coronavirus pandemic. BSL and the English BBL are the only basketball leagues in Europe that haven’t been suspended or completely canceled.

The statement was uploaded by Galatasaray players on the social media profiles. “We appreciate the Turkish Government has taken measures to slow down the spread of the virus however we find it quite bizarre that we keep playing, despite it being behind closed doors,” the statement says. As of Friday (13/3) evening, there have been five confirmed coronavirus cases in Turkey.

Some prominent Turkish League players, like Anadolu Efes guard Shane Larkin or Fenerbahce‘s Bobby Dixon and Malcolm Thomas have openly expressed their dissatisfaction with the championship being held.
