Overcoming a double-digit deficit, Anadolu Efes edges out Cagdas Bodrum Spor in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi

Extending a winning streak, Anadolu Efes struggled against Cagdas Bodrum Spor in Round 17 of the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season.

Storming back from a double-digit deficit in the second half, the team coached by Erdem Can prevailed, 87-79, in Sinan Erdem Dome and went up to 15-2 at the domestic level on Sunday.

Fueling the fourth straight win between BSL and the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Darius Thompson set his individual best for the 2023-24 campaign at 27 points. The 28-year-old point guard tucked in six three-pointers. He also dished out six assists and pulled down four rebounds in a dominating performance, staying on the court for nearly 30 minutes.

Daniel Oturu chipped in 15 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks for the defending champions in Turkiye. Shane Larkin, Elijah Bryant. Dogus Ozdemiroglu, Tibor Pleiss, Justus Hollatz, Mike Daum, Erkan Yilmaz, and Tyrique Jones sat out due to various reasons.

Fenerbahce makes short work of Karsiyaka

In command after the first quarter, Fenerbahce Beko ended up with a 93-63 win against Pinar Karsiyaka in Ulker Sports Arena. Rebounding from the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague loss to Zalgiris, staying one game behind rival Efes at the domestic level was the reward.

Sertac Sanli made a team-high 17 points with 6/9 field goals, including 3/3 triples. Giorgos Papagiannis followed with 14 points. More double-digit scoring contributions by Johnathan Motley and Melih Mahmutoglu dropping 12 and 11 points, respectively.

For the visitors, Vernon Carey Jr. registered a game-high 18 points. In a quick turnaround, the team coached by Ufuk Sarica is set to start the Round of 16 of the Basketball Champions League by hosting Lenovo Tenerife in Karsiyaka Arena on Tuesday.
