Another major surprise took place in the Turkish Cup quarterfinals, since Banvit was the one to advance in the semis over Galatasaray.

The team from Bandirma was better from the beginning preserving a small lead, but not holding tight enough to it. Galatasaray‘s efforts to get in front of the score paid off in the mid of the third quarter when Stephane Lasme put his team ahead 49 – 47. The “CimBom” sat in the driver’s seat and two minutes before the end, they were ahead 69 – 63. A quick sequence of baskets by their opponents, put Banvit closer but it was Slaughter’s  buzzer beating 3point shot that send his team to the semifinals.

Before that match, Darussafaka had already made short work of Trabzonspor to get its own ticket to the next stage. Coach Mahmuti’s players played one of their best games recently and advanced easily thanks to a strong team output.

Turkish Cup Quarterfinals Day 2:

Darussafaka Dogus (11 p. 5 a.) – Trabzonspor: 83 – 52

Galatasaray – Banvit (Courtney Fortson 25 p. 8 a. 6 r.): 73 – 74

The two semifinals are going to be held on Friday as such:

Pinar Karsiyaka – Fenerbahce

Banvit – Darussafaka Dogus

Watch the buzzer beating 3 of AJ Slaughter that sent his team to the semis.
