A rematch of the Turkish Cup quarterfinal between Tofas Bursa and Sakarya Buyuksehir closed the 19th Gameday of the Turkish Basketball Super League. Not were the two teams the same. but also the outcome.
With Raymar Morgan scoring 21 points and grabbing 6 rebounds (both team-highs), Tofas beat Sakarya 84 – 79 and improved its league record to the impressive 16-3. Only the defending champion Fenerbahce has the same track of results.
Gian Clavell stood out from Sakarya thanks to a strong double-double of 24 points plus 11 rebounds.
Over the weekend, Fenerbahce defeated archrival Galatasaray while Sonny Weems made an impressive Turkish League debut to lead Anadolu Efes to victory over Buyukcekmece. In Saturday, Sarunas Vasiliauskas wore his “Jasikevicius superhero cape” to help Trabzonspor remain close to the playoff spots.
