The 2019 Turkish Cup host, Turk Telekom, opened the Final Eight tourney eliminating Galatasaray.

This year’s Turkish Cup started with a thrilling game with many lead changes. The Final Eight host, Turk Telekom, secured a semifinals spot by defeating Galatasaray Doga Sigorta, 85-79, at the Ankara Arena.

Sylven Landesberg went off for 27 points. Vladimir Stimac added 21 points of his own including a clutch three-point play with 31 seconds to go, also grabbed 12 rebounds and dished five assists en route for a PIR of 31.

Zach Auguste led a five-player double-digit bunch scoring 21 points, but wasn’t enough for Ertugrul Erdogan’s side. “It was a difficult loss for us. We weren’t careful with the ball. I myself missed too many free shots” the 25-year-old said after the match.

Fenerbahce Beko will face Bahcesehir Koleji later today. The quarterfinal stage will conclude tomorrow with Anadolu Efes against Gaziantep and Tofas against Besiktas Sompo Japan.
