Pinar Karsiyaka announced that Ufuk Sarica returns to the club as head coach. Sarica, who is also the head coach of the Turkish national team, signed a two-year contract with the BSL team.
Sarica was the main candidate to become head coach of Karsiyaka, along with Oktay Mahmuti, since the team decided to not continue with Dirk Bauermann.
During his previous stint with Karsiyaka as head coach, Sarica led the squad to winning the 2015 Turkish League championship. The team from Izmir beat powerhouses Fenerbahce and Anadolu Efes in the semifinals and finals respectively to win the first league title since 1987 and second overall in the history of the club.
