Istanbul BBSK decided to withdraw from the Turkish League until further notice, a few weeks away from the tip-off of the new season.

The team’s officials spoke to Sozcu, explaining the team’s decision: “Instead of giving the club’s money to professional players, we will spend it to establish facilities and support our youth players”.

The club’s debt called for such a radical decision, but according to its GM statements, “they are ready to return with a team that fits the BSL standards when the opportunity arises”.

Until further notice, the Turkish League now consists of 15 teams.
