Collecting the majority of the votes across 24 editors of Eurohoops, Giorgos Bartzokas emerged as our Coach of the Year in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

One season with 18 teams, 34 rounds through the Regular Season, and five more in the Playoffs, a total of 324 games. Among all the head coaches guiding respective teams through the 2022-23 campaign, one boss was the best.

Editors of Eurohoops’ global, Greek, Turkish, Spanish, and Russian editions selected Olympiacos tactician Giorgos Bartzokas as the Coach of the Year.

The result corresponds to a consensus of opponents confessing that Olympiacos under the instructions of the 58-year-old play-caller is a genuine team, attractive beyond basketball showings to becoming the first Greek team to finish on top of the regular-season standings. Moving to the Playoffs and eliminating Fenerbahce Beko in five games, the Reds clinched a berth in the Final Four for a second year in a row.

Bartzokas gathered 16 votes to rank first overall. Following second, Zeljko Obradovic leading Partizan Mozzart Bet to the Playoffs earned four votes. Two votes went to Kazys Maksvytis of Zalgiris which also cracked the top eight. The two remaining votes were split between FC Barcelona’s Sarunas Jasikevicius and AS Monaco’s Sasa Obradovic with both set to compete for the championship in the Kaunas Final Four.
