Legendary Sasha Djordjevic joined Antonis Stroggylakis and Cesare Milanti at Eurohoops’ EurohooPOD to talk about his vast career as a player and a coach and his current job with the Chinese national team.

Djordjevic looked back at his stints with Virtus Bologna and Fenerbahce where he was fired after winning championships with both teams and analyzes the work he put on with those clubs and also Panathinaikos. He also discusses Partizan’s missed opportunity to make the 2022 Final Four plus his look at the infamous brawl, current EuroLeague favorites.

A longtime successful coach of Serbia, Djordjevic touched on the 2023 World Cup while naming a player who is the future of Serbian basketball. He also commented on Vasilijie Micic’s rough first months with the Thunder and explained why he decided to end his own NBA run quickly back in 1996.

Among other topics, the 56-year-old former Partizan Belgrade player commented on last year’s incidents between the Serbian powerhouse and Real Madrid. “I was sad they didn’t make it. They deserved it. But the mistake was made. You have to play. There is no place for fighting, for losing your head in the moment of possible glory. For yourself and the club”, he said.

The current Chinese national team’s head coach compared the episode to what was happening in the past. “All the big players there haven’t been provocations, elbows, hard fouls, and everything else? Galis should have reacted all the time when we were hitting him intentionally all the time? He should’ve hit us back?”, Sasha Djordjevic then added.
