Sarunas Jasikevicius is one of the most legendary figures in EuroLeague history. The current Fenerbahçe coach, in an interview with Eurohoops about Final Fours’ history, spoke about player egos and the discussions surrounding the ‘GOAT’ title.
After discussing his experience in the Final Four, in which he has won the title four times as a player with three different teams, Barcelona, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Panathinaikos, and once as a coach, being the defending champion with Fenerbahçe, Saras explained to Eurohoops his vision of the current players and how they manage their self-image.
“This GOAT thing pisses me off now. Everybody’s talking about themselves“, he said. “You cannot talk about yourself, and you cannot talk about what you’ve done. It’s for other people to decide“, he explained to Eurohoops when asked about who is the EuroLeague GOAT in his opinion.

“But I’m old school, you can’t be considered in any kind of GOAT conversation if you don’t win. You need to have at least three titles if you want to be in a conversation, for me“, Jasikevicius answered. “And all this young generation, they only care about scoring points. You can’t be in the conversation if you don’t win“, he added.
“One is not enough, two is probably not enough. You select from a very select few“, Saras concluded.
