Istanbul – Hours before the tip off

The whispers are turning to cries. The Spanish Armada is sailing to Bosphorus. But Zeljko Obradovic is calm. The lord of the eight cups has foreseen this happening and he is ready. His head is always clear even in the darkest hour. And his color is purple like the blood. His plan is ready and he is overseeing the details.

Nothing is left to luck; even he was accused in the past of being his favorite during battle. That can be the incompetent’s excuse and he will not stand his struggles to be diminished to just a coincidence. For more than a decade he ruled the empire and nobody ever dared to challenge him in public.

However, he couldn’t sleep well. He got up on his horse and started a last check of the walls. He used to ride alongside Jan Vesely, every time before the battle. This time, his companion was Luigi, the Italian rich bearded knight.

«Gigi it’s time for you to take action. Jan is injured and his absence will be felt”. Duke Datome didn’t reply. He just nod his head and looked back at Obradovic. In time, a mutual respect had grew between the two of them. They know that this is their time…

Inside the city walls…

Game of Cup

“Look Bobby! It’s the whole empire from Athens to Moscow and from Istanbul to Madrid”, said a scruffy looking Jan, looking at the map he had on his hands. For days he is trying to be himself after being hurt in the civil struggle against Karsiyaka for local domination. The Czech knight led lord Obradovic’s army to many battles, making him proud and winner and earning for himself the right to be the bearer of the yellow and navy blue banner.

The wind is blowing on his golden locks, his trademark since he was a child. The first light shines on the map on Berlin’s mark. An omen? Who knows? What he knows for sure is that he will be just a spectator in the upcoming battle.

Bobby Dixon is his brother. His hands assist a lot of Jan’s exploits. They have never lost a battle together and songs were made for their feats. A look by Jan is enough for Bobby to understand where and when he needs to strike.

“Rest my friend and keep the worries out of your head. When the time comes, I know that you will be back on my side”. Bobby looks at the time once again. He had spend hours and hours with Jan, talking about battles and conquering Berlin. But first, they have to defend Istanbul…
