The record for most points in the opening night of the Basketball Champions League was under threat.

Tyrone Brazelton was probably watching with anxiety from the Greek Island of Limnos, where he plays for Ifaistos in the Greek league, the first week of Basketball Champions League.

And while both Norris Cole of Scandone Avellino and Tyrese Rice of Brose Bamberg did great, Brazelton’s record for most points scored in the competition’s opening night still holds.

Back in 2016, when Basketball Champions League was on its first season, Brazelton who at the time played for Polish team Rosa Radom scored 36 points in the 93-85 win over PAOK, a game decided after three overtimes!

This week Cole scored 34 points, leading his team to a double-overtime 100-93 road win over Niznhy Novgorod and Rice had 33 points against Fuenlabrada in a game without overtime. However, Rice’s team was beaten at the buzzer (89-88).
