Barcelona will not match the offer, and the Greek small forward returns to Piraeus.

He wanted it, he insisted, he took care of… “business” and now he returns. Unless something… earth shattering happens, Kostas Papanikolaou will be back to Olympiacos and he will immediately join the Greek champions. It is highly possible that he will be at coach Giannis Sfairopoulos’ disposal before the Greek Basket League derby with Panathinaikos, since he will return to Athens on Thursday.  Something that Eurohoops has already informed you since Monday’s afternoon.

Barcelona could not turn down the the player’s sheer will of returning to Olympiacos. The Catalans will most likely not match the Reds’ offer, something that honors the club which proved that it respects the player’s wishes

As for Papanikolaou? Why, he simply accepted all the initial terms that Olympiacos had put in front of him, the team respected it and increased the offer, plus the length of the contract that had been offered to him on October, before “Pap” signed for Denver Nuggets.
