Unicaja Malaga has agreed to terms with Oliver Lafayette for the next season and has submitted a qualifying bid to ACB, as Diaro Sur reports. Valencia still has Lafayette’s rights in the ACB league, yet the team has 5 calendar days to match the offer.

Valencia has made an offer to Unicaja‘s Will Thomas and so now the clubs are speaking about the rights of each player. That being said, neither of the teams have to pay for their desired player as they will proceed to an exchange.

The initial offer of Unicaja to Lafayette was placed yesterday, since the American guard has just recently departed from Olimpia Milano. However, he was on the list of candidates to reinforce the direction of Unicaja from early this summer, even when he still had a valid contract with the Italian club.

The 32-year-old guard was born in Baton Rouge, Lousiana and has great experience at European level. He is even an international with the Croatian team, with which he played in the 2014 FIBA World Championship.

Lafayette is a player with extensive track record: Euroleague runner-up 2015, he has won league titles in three different countries with Zalgiris Kaunas in 2012-13, Olympiacos 2014-15 and Armani Milano last season. He’s no stranger to ACB league either, as he’s been to Valencia during the 2013-14 season.
