The board of CSKA appreciated the job Dimitris Itoudis has done so far and decided to exercise the team option on his contract for one more year, proving its confidence to the Greek coach.
The choice of CSKA last summer was risky because Itoudis hasn’t been until then on the bench of a Euroleague club as a head coach. However, after just the start of the season it was evident that he deserved this position. Under him CSKA presented the second best winning streak in its history (30-0), president Andrei Vatutin supported Itoudis with his quotes on Eurohoops after three straight defeats one month ago and what he said about the Greek coach is now proven by his action.
The president of CSKA demonstrated how much he values Itoudis’ work by already extending the collaboration with him. The deal between the two parts last summer had the option to be terminated in the summer of 2016. There was a team option for the second season which could be used until the end of May, but CSKA decided to activate it now. With this choice in the right timing, Vatutin managed to keep the team focused to the goal of winning Euroleague and VTB.
