Khimki Moscow Region hosting CSKA Moscow highlights the batch of VTB United League matches

Week 8 of the VTB United League tipped off with a clash between Astana and Kalev as the former squad logged its second win while leaving Kalev winless.

Zenit leads the standings with a 6-0 record at the top of the standings. Lokomotiv Kuban stayed at 5-1 and CSKA fell to 4-2 at the hands of Khimki.

BC Kalev – Astana 85-92

Michael Thompson led the way for the winning side with 17 points while Martins Meiers added 16 and Jeremiah Hill 15 points. Thompson also dished nine assists.

For Kalev, Marcus Keene scored 23 in addition to Chavaughn Lewis’ 18 and Devin Thomas’ 16 points.

Tsomki-Minsk – Avtodor Saratov 69-86

Zeljko Sakic packing a 16-point, 12-rebound double and Anton Kvitkovskikh with 16 more points supplied the main contribution in the third win a row. Markel Starks added 14 points plus eight assists.

The home side featured Robert Lowery and Kris Clyburn at 16 points, and Maksim Salash at 14.

PARMA – Enisey 67-84

Mikhail Kulagin was leading the way for the victors with 26 points on 5-8 from deep while Leyton Hammonds added 14 and Dustin Hogue 12 points. Hogue also grabbed 12 boards.

For PARMA, Robert Johnson and Eigirdas Zukauskas scored 14 points each.

Zielona Gora – Zenit Saint Petersburg 74-94

Arturas Gudaitis shot 6-7 from the field on his way to 20 points for Zenit while Billy Baron scored 14 in addition to Will Thomas and Mateusz Ponitka’s ten points each.

For the opposing side, Geoffrey Grosselle scored 23 followed by Kris Richard with 13 and Janis Berzins with 12 points.

Khimki Moscow Region – CSKA Moscow 86-78

Greg Monroe scored 28 points, his most since moving his talents to Europe, and also pulled down ten rebounds. Errick McCollum contributed with his first 16 VTB points for Khimki.

The visitors mostly playing catchup in the second half featured Mike James at 20 points and Nikola Milutinov at 14.
