Khimki Moscow Region failed to get back on track in the debut of interim head coach Andrey Maltsev

UNICS Kazan prevailed, 93-87, versus Khimki Moscow Region in an exciting VTB United League match played Sunday. Isaiah Canaan went for 22 points. Jamar Smith also scored 22 points including the game-winning bucket. Alexey Shved produced a game-high 33 points but was not enough for the team coached by Andrey Maltsev. The visitors jumped to 9-4 forcing Khimki to 5-6.

On Saturday, Will Cummings fired in 25 points and Mindaugas Kuzminskas 19 points leading Lokomotiv Kuban to the 94-73 demolition of Nizhny Novgorod. The team based in Krasnodar jumped to 9-5.

Zenit stayed on top of the standings with an 11-1 record after dismantling Kalev while CSKA followed up with a win as well and a 10-2 record.
