Nizhny Novgorod becomes the latest victim of UNICS Kazan’s winning streak

UNICS Kazan after exploding in the first period went on to defeat Nizhny Novgorod, 87-56, resuming VTB United League action on Saturday.

Okaro White registered a game-high 16 points and Jamar Smith threw in 11 more points. Jordan Theodore had eight points, ten assists, six rebounds, and three steals. Dmitry Uzinsky made his way to 15 points with 13 points in the last quarter.

The team coached by Dimitris Priftis outscored the visitors, 24-3, in the first period simplifying the proceedings. The 13th straight win across all competitions since December 26 extended the perfect run in 2021 and upped the VTB tally to 14-4. Coming up, MoraBanc Andorra at home on Wednesday in 7DAYS EuroCup Top 16 Round 5.

Meanwhile, Lokomotiv Kuban got past Enisey with 100-98 on the scoreboard, improving to 11-6 and leaving the opponent at 4-12.

Nigel Williams-Goss banked in 27 points followed by Drew Gordon who was right behind with 24. Mantas Kalnietis scored six points but also dished ten assists to go with it. On the other side, Dustin Hogue scored 21 and Timofey Yakushin 17 points.

Following the two-week break, three more VTB games were held until Monday. League-leader Zenit Saint-Petersburg at 15-2 was not part of the schedule, nor was CSKA Moscow sitting third at 11-5.
