Avtodor Saratov is the new standings leader in the VTB League 10 rounds into the 2021-22 season and after the team’s 83 – 74 away win over Zenit St. Petersburg.

Grant Jerrett had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead Saratov to this triumph that improved his squad’s winning streak to 7-0 and the overall record to 8-1. Unics Kazan is also 8-1 but Saratov defeated them in Round 4 to get the tiebreaker.

Anton Johnson scored 14 points for Saratov while Anton Kvitkovskikh and Pavel Sergeev added 12 points apiece. Billy Baron had 15 points for a Zenit squad that was without guard Jordan Loyd, and big man Jordan Mickey, while coming off a double-game week in EuroLeague.

Saratov’s dominance so far will be challenged by CSKA Moscow on January 4. CSKA is now 6-2 after crushing Zielona Gora 59 – 93 on the road behind 15 points, five rebounds and five assists by Iffe Lundberg, a former player of the Polish side.
