UNICS took down Astana on the road for their fifth consecutive win in VTB League

UNICS Kazan recovered from an eight-point deficit in the first half and stormed into the second, to take down Astana with an 84-53 victory on the road, extending its winning streak to five games in the VTB League.

Isaiah Canaan led all scorers of UNICS with 17 points and Mario Hezonja emerged with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the visiting side, while shooting 3-on-6 from the three-point line.

Marco Spissu added 13 points for Velimir Perasovic‘s squad, Dmitrii Uzinskii had 11 points and John Brown picked up 8 points and 4 rebounds. With this win, UNICS is the sole leader of the VTB standings, with an overall 13-2 record.

Two days after setting a season scoring record in the competition with a triple-double, Astana’s Anthony Hickey led the team with 20 points and 2 rebounds.

The Kazakh side has now lost eight of its last nine games and slips further down the standings with a 3-10 record.
