CSKA Moscow got a close win over Zenit Saint Petersburg with 79-78 on the scoreboard and improved to 13-3 in the second spot of the VTB league. Zenit follows right behind with 11-4.
Alexey Shved stepped up for the victors with 25 points, ten rebounds, and eight assists while Semyon Antonov scored 17 and the latest addition Casper Ware 14 points.
Ware was also the one to hand the win to the Moscow team from the free-throw line, calmly finishing the work Shved put in motion.
On the opposing side, Jordan Loyd put up 20 points, six rebounds, six assists in his return to the team together with four other players. Alex Poythress was also one of them with 14 points. Dmitry Kulagin added 17.
Earlier, UNICS Kazan got the better of Nizhny Novgorod with 65-50. Mario Hezonja and Artem Komolov were leading the way, scoring 17 points each.
They top the standings with 14-2 while Nizhny now holds a 5-7 record in the seventh spot.
