Casper Ware the winning 3-pointer as CSKA Moscow beat Lokomotiv Kuban 93 – 90 in Game 1 of the VTB League semifinals.
Ware, who arrived at CSKA in March, finished with 18 points while Alexey Shved had 23 points plus seven assists. He made a big four-point play before sending the pass to Ware for the game-winner.
Jaylen Barford had 18 points while Errick McCollum and Zahar Vedischev dropped 15 points apiece for Loko that was close to a big win on the road but didn’t manage to close the game successfully. The Krasnodar side trailed up by 15 points but came back and took a 80 – 85 lead in the fourth period, only for CSKA to reclaim the advantage and get the victory behind Ware’s triple.
Game 2 will also take place in Moscow Saturday (7/5).
