The Russian team advanced to the VTB League playoffs for second time in a row and, in the process, blasted Astana, 132 – 72 through a magnificent offensive performance.
This is a case where numbers simply do the talking. In order to finally reach that incredible number of 132 points, Avtodor Saratov’s players… practically refused to miss a shot. They finished the game making baskets in any way imaginable, shooting with 81% in their two-point attempts (35/43) and 63 from downtown (19/30).
The only thing that spoils this near-perfection, is the 5/10 from the free throw line, but we suppose that coach Vladimir Antsiferov is going to sweet that part under the carpet. Just this once.
And there is more. Despite their raging rhythm, Avtodor Saratov had an impressive analogy between assists and turnovers with 40/11! Paul Stoll, finished the game with 14 assists, to go with the 23 points he scored, while Jeremy Chappell added 20 points plus 8 assists. Generally, seven players of Avtodor Saratov scored in double-digit numbers.
Astana could clearly not keep up at all with their opponents’ aggressiveness. Rustam Yargaliev finished the match with 16 points.
