A 18 – 2 outburst in a period that spanned from the last minutes of the third quarter, to the beginning of the fourth, did all the job that was necessary for Unics Kazan in order to defeat Lokomotiv Kuban 80 – 76. With this victory, Unics has secured the second place in the standings of the VTB League.

Keith Langford (2o points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists), Quino Colom (16 points, 6 assists) and Arturas Milanknis (15 points with 5/7 three-pointers) were the main perpetrators in what was an important result for their team against a highly qualitative opponent. Kostas Kaimakoglou posted a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) to complete the quartet of success behind Unics’ win.

Even though Lokomotiv Kuban was ahead of the score 28 – 34 a little after the halftime break, the rhythm and efficiency of its game on both ends of course, was then significantly down-tuned. Once their hosts assumed control of the situation, it was too late, since coach Pashutin’s players held tight to a double-digit lead up until the 80 seconds before the final buzzer.

All that Loko could do was just try to reduce this margin a bit. Malcolm Delaney scored 17 points and dished 5 assists, while Anthony Randolph added 13 points plus 6 rebounds.
