Davion Berry set the tone early, his teammates responded, and in the end, Enisey got the 80-71 win over CSKA Moscow in the first game for both teams of the 2019-20 VTB United League season.
Berry with a total of 23 points led the charge as the hosts started the game with a 23-14 lead in the first quarter and despite the comeback of CSKA Moscow, they built a 66-53 advantage at the start of last period thanks to an 11-2 run. Tomislav Zubcic added 16 points for the winning side which also got a double-double by Dustin Hogue (11 p., 10 r.).
CSKA cut the lead to six (75-69) with less than two minutes left after a layup of Darrun Hilliard, but Denis Zakharov answered with a three and the game was over. Hilliard and Janis Strelnieks with 12 points each were the top scorers of CSKA.
The hosts made almost half of their threes (11/23) while CSKA shot 7/25. It’s the first-ever win of Enisey over CSKA Moscow.
