Eurocup-bound Partizan Belgrade has been suspended by the Serbian basketball federation and is currently unable to register new players. Yesterday, the club received a letter by the federation which asked them to “reconsider”, according to the team’s sport director Dragan Todoric.

“On Monday we received such letter but we haven’t talked about the issue so far. Each of us has an opinion, yet we haven’t decided the final position that the club will take. It is evident that this is a threat and it’s a difficult thing. We are under pressure”, said Todoric to Sporski Zurnal.

He then added that: “If the Serbian Federation continues keeping this stance, and I see that their pressures becomes more intense, then we do not know how we can proceed”, he continued. “We have hundreds of problems, especially when it comes to registering players. We have only four players in our roster from the previous season. How are we going to play in any competition if our players cannot gain registration? We need to be smart when we reach a conclusion on what we will do.”

“We expected some form of compromise between FIBA and ECA. Obviously nothing has happened. Meanwhile, I heard that even the Spanish Federation intends to suspend the clubs that are going to play in Eurocup. It’s an unfortunately complicated situation!”, Todoric concluded.
