Crvena Zvezda is always strong at home, however Maccabi Tel Aviv proved to be more than weak in the Serbs’ triumph with 83-58.

Nobody expected that this game would end up being a walk in the park for Zvezda which got a 19-14 lead at the first quarter and then witnessed Maccabi‘s colaps. The hosts had a 42-24 lead at half time and never looked back. It was a team effort with Marco Simonovic leading a balanced offense with 14 points for Zvezda.

From the other side D.J. Seeley had 15 points and Maccabi did not go not even once in the free throws line. This is a first in the Euroleague history and one more proof not only of the defensive efficiency of Zvezda, but also of the lack of tenacity from the Israelis who were outplayed in every possible way.

Stefan Jovic with 10 points and 9 assists and Ognen Kuzmic (12 p. 5 r.) were among the standouts from the hosts. Andrew Goudelock in 32 minutes of action had 13 points for Maccabi, Maik Zirbes scored 10 points and Sonny Weems with 6 were the only players of the guests – with the addition of Seeley – that finished the game scoring more than 2 points.
