Svetislav Pesic, who won the last Copa del Rey with Barcelona back in 2003, made it two-of-two after defeating Real Madrid 92 – 90 in the final. Pau Ribas led the champions with 21 points but Thomas Heurtel was named the MVP of the tournament. The French finished with 8 points and 7 dimes.

Trey Thompkins (17 points in 5-of-5 from beyond the arc) reduced the deficit to 92 – 90 with two triples. Pierre Oriola missed two free throws with less than 10 seconds left and in the last play of the game, Madrid had the chance to win the game. However, Fabien Causeur missed the potential game-winning three. Jeffery Taylor got the rebound, contact was made by Claver, but no foul was given. Taylor missed, Rudy did the same after a second offensive rebound and the game was over.

The “Blaugranas” started the second period with an 11-0 run with Pesic’s men defending the paint. Barca controlled the boards and the game but Madrid had something to say. 38 points in the fourth, full-court defense and Jaycee Carroll made it a 5-point game (85 – 80, 39′).

The shooting guard from Wyoming led the losing side with 18 points. NBA Draft prospect Luka Doncic finished with 14 in a 1-of-8 shooting.
