The general outcry that followed Gedvydas Vainauskas’s horrible racist remarks on television forced him into giving up most of his shares in Lietuvos Rytas and Antanas Guoga taking over as the new major owner and club president.

Guoga is a well-known politician and businessman, currently serving as member of the European Parliament, has agreed to become the third major shareholder of the club holding two fours of the ownership. Sigitas Zidonis and Remigijus Kazilionis will act as his representatives with two seats at the board of the club. The other two will continue to be owned by the municipality of Vilnius and businessman Darius Gudelis.

The new shareholder has committed to not make any change in the team’s name, per the official announcement by the club.
