At 37 years of age, the veteran captain of Real Madrid and Spanish League all-time rebounds king says his career has been without any regrets. Even when it comes to declining offers from certain NBA teams.

“There had been offers from the NBA. But not from any important team,” Reyes said to Spanish Cadena SER ratio. “I wish the Miami Heat and the L.A. Lakers sent me offers,” he joked. “But these never arrived. “But I don’t regret leaving Madrid. For me Real Madrid is like being in the NBA. Or better.”

When asked how he endures playing at a top physical level in his age, he answered, “I take care of small things. The worst thing is when it comes to lunch. I can’t do the typical diets many have.”

“The schedule is very hard but we are good in both the Liga Endesa and EuroLeague. And that’s what’s important,” he adds.

Reyes also mentioned that he visions himself finishing his career with the “Blancos” jersey. “I want to retire in Real Madrid. That’s my dream.”
