CSKA Moscow confirmed today that French guard Leo Westermann (24,, 1,97 m.) signed a two year contract (1+1) with the club.

Westermann had a great season in Zalgiris where he played in all 30 EuroLeague games averaging 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 0.5 steals in 25.2 minutes per game. The Frenchman played one of his best games against CSKA in Kaunas, when Leo registered his personal best in assists and had a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds).

He started his pro career in ASVEL. He debuted in the EuroLeague with Partizan Belgrade in 2012. He got serious injury in 2013 and needed almost a year to rehab, before signing a contract with Barcelona and getting loaned to Limoges where he played until his move to Kaunas. He has won Serbian, Adriatic, French and Lithuanian League titles and the 2015 Eurobasket bronze.

“We are welcoming the player who proved that he can play both point guard and shooting guard positions”, said coach Dimitris Itoudis. “He has size and knowledge to create situations for himself and his partners on highest level. Leo is motivated and thrilled to play for us. I wish him to be healthy and good luck in CSKA uniform”.
