Khimki Moscow Region defeated Zalgiris Kaunas 74-84 on the road thanks to a great second half. It was an exciting game to watch especially in the fourth quarter.

The visitors came back from -15 to defeat the Lithuanians on the road! The game was tied in the fourth quarter but in the final minutes, Khimki showed passion and tenacity. Pangos missed two crucial three-pointers, Shved converted on his free throws and with one minute left, Honeycutt scored the most important three-pointer of the game to put Khimki up by six points (73-79). On the following possession Micic traveled, Khimki went back to the free-throw line and the game was eventually over.

Khimki’s ‘Big 3’ combined for 57 points, as Gill (20 pts), Shved (20 pts) and Honeycutt (17 pts) led the comeback. Alexey Shved’s free-throws and Tyler Honeycutt’s three-pointer sealed the deal. It is also important to note that Khimki played tough defense in the second half, not allowing Zalgiris to make more than one (!) three-pointer in the final twenty minutes.

On the other hand, Pangos, Davies, and Toupane were good for Zalgiris tonight. Kevin Pangos was impressive in just the first quarter (but missed some important shots in the final minutes of the contest). In the first ten minutes, he had 12 points (3/4 FG) (4/4 FT) leading his squad to a double-digit advantage (26-15). Baron Davies added 15 points while Axel Toupane finished with 13.

Jasikevicius’ team could not start the game off better. With Pangos, Toupane, and Jankunas connecting on multiple occasions, they built a 15-point lead (26-11). Shved, however, scored 13 points in the second quarter and Khimki went up ahead (42-43), coming back from 15 points.

With this win, Khimki improved to 13-9 while Zalgiris fell to 13-9.
