Comfortable wins for Olympiacos and Panathinaikos

Both Olympiacos and Panathinaikos enjoyed home victories on Sunday evening in the Greek league.

Olympiacos beat Lavrio in Piraeus 84-52, with Vangelis Mantzaris leading the hosts with 12 points.

Matt Lojeski and Ioannis Papapetrou scored in double digits and finished with 10 points each.

The Reds challenged their visitors early on and grabbed a 25-9 lead at 10′. Erick Green pushed the deficit to 17 points at 17′ (40-23), while the hosts enjoyed a 44-29 lead.

With a partial 16-1 run, Olympiacos was able to dominate the third period and even grab a safe 65-42 head after 30 minutes.

Panathinaikos was challenged by Aris, but eventually prevailed 70-54. Mike James led the winners with 19 points, while KC Rivers scored 10. Chris Singleton almost reached a double double with 9 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts.

After the score was even at 20 points in the first period, the Greens took charge in the second with James and Kenny Gabriel pushing their team to 44-30 at halftime.

The Northern Greek team’s Mourtos even reduced the deficit to 9 points for his team at 28′, while it was a 10-point game before the final period, 53-43.
