The new scoring epic that JaJuan Johnson “wrote” in the road victory of Cantu against Caserta outshined everything else that transpired during Week 22 of the Italian league.

The American forward scored 35 points and grabbed 5 rebounds leading his team to a precious victory that preserves its hopes for the postseason.

Cantu is currently 12th in the standings with a 9 – 13 record and at a distance of two-wins from the playoffs zone.

Johnson hit 7/10 two-pointers, 2/6 from beyond the arc and 9/9 free throws to produce 35 points for a second time in the season. He had registered his first 35-point game of 2016/2017 in the Week 11 vs Avellino.

The 28-year-old big guy now makes a serious case for completing the season as the league’s top scorer. He has tallied 428 points so far (19.4 average) being behind only Marcus Landry who has 439.

In the other games of the week, table leader Olimpia Milano prevailed over Sassari for its 19nth win in the season, keeping its safe distance from Venezia and Avellino that are tied in the second place with a 14 – 8 record each.
