The Croatian Basketball Federation President criticizes FIBA windows which don’t allow the country’s NBA players to participate.

Stojko Vrankovic comments on the absence of key players for the Croatian NT due to the qualification system of FIBA for the World Cup.

“I’m very proud of our six players in the NBA, but thanks to FIBA and these odd terms, qualifying for us in the first four games meant nothing because we knew we could not use them.”

“My personal opinion is how these qualifications do not make sense. Small countries like Croatia, that, unlike Italy or Spain, do not have a strong domestic league, have a big problem. Especially if you have several players injured and a few more that cannot come due to the FIBA-EuroLeague conflict”, Vrankovic continues.

“It is a shame that FIBA did not organize the qualifications in the summer, say in July or August, when the calendars are free. I’m very angry”, he concludes.
