After Galatasaray‘s win against AEK in Athens, coach Ergin Ataman was also asked about the new Euroleague format and explained his objections, with coach Dragan Sakota of AEK BC responding to the same question as well.

Ataman explained: “Euroleague should change its plans. It’s not fair. It’s very bad for basketball to have a closed league. How can you leave the champions outside? I am not pro-FIBA, or pro-Euroleague, I want what’s best for basketball”.

For his part, Sakota added: “Our plan is to play in the Euroleague. We will have an official position on the matter, but I am not happy with this decision. We can’t have a system similar to the one they have in the USA. This will greatly affect the decisions of people who want to invest in the European basketball.”
