Erick Green is ready to sign with Olympiacos for the next two seasons as the American guard is finalizing his contract with the Greek champs.

According to Eurohoops sources the two sides have an agreement for a deal that will include an opt out clause for both of them in the summer of 2017 – the Reds include an opt out clause in most of their contracts and Green also wants to be able to return to the NBA – and the player is more than satisfied with the financial offer of the club.

Olympiacos spents more money than the number initially offered in order to lure Green back in Europe and also beats the competition by moving fast. Four Euroleague teams in total were interested on the player. Some of them could offer more money, in theory, than Olympiacos, but Green has made his decision.

His ambitions for winning in Europe, the fact that he will have a key part in a battle-tested roster that includes talent and a leader like Vassilis Spanoulis, made everything much simpler for Green who has the tools to play alongside all the backcourt players of Olympiacos. In him, the Reds believe that they have found the player closer to Acie Law, a key member of the back-to-back Euroleague winning teams.

After all, the 25 years old player is familiar with Euroleague from his tour of duty in Siena and he is ready to make a difference again, being more experienced and more mature compared to the 2013-14 season that he spent in Italy just after leaving the NCAA And before signing with the Denver Nuggets.

Update: Erick Green confirmed Eurohoops’ report by accepting a congratulatory message on Twitter regarding the news of his transfer to Olympiacos.
