Although Pablo Prigioni is among the players that would interest an almost… desperate to bolster its backcourt Barcelona, the Argentinian veteran says that in case he went back in Spain, his destination of preference would be a… more familiar place.

“I talked with my agent Claudio Villanueva about it. If I returned to Spain, I would like to play only for Baskonia,” Prigioni said in an interview for Argentinian website BasquetPlus. “That’s what I was thinking all this time I wasn’t in the NBA. I did that in the past (with Real Madrid from 2009 to 2011) and I didn’t feel well. I didn’t have a good experience. And now Baskonia has good players in my position, so I don’t think they need me.”

Prigioni has spent seven years of his rich professional career in Vitoria playing for the Basques so it’s quite natural that he has developed a bond with the team. It’s there that has has played his best basketball, after all.

But there’s also an other reason that made him say “no” to offers by clubs, as he reveals.

“Some teams from Europe called me when I was a free agent, but I said no. Me and my wife decided to come to Argentina and spend some time together because I hadn’t been able to do it for a long time. We stayed in Houston for three weeks and we came back to Argentina for the holidays. I will be there until the first days of January when we will go to Spain so that the boys will begin school there. And then I’ll consider playing from January to the end of the season.”
