ABA League Appeals Board cancels one-point sanction on Crvena Zvezda

Crvena Zvezda got back the deduced one point on the standings and is now in the ABA League playoff zone as the fourth-placed team

Crvena Zvezda mts was initially sanctioned with a fine as well as with deduction of one point on the standings for not showing up in Montenegro for the game against Buducnost VOLI.

The club appealed and the board decided to decrease the fine as well as give back Zvezda the deduced one point. This pushes Zvezda to 24 points, same as FMP, and the fourth spot which leads to the playoffs.

Per ABA Liga:

Based on the articles 50.1, 50.4, 50.5, 50.6, 50.8, 50.11. of the ABA League Disciplinary Code (DPABA), the Appeals Board, composed of President Boštjan Koritnik, and members Krunoslav Štengl and Milovan Zvijer, has unanimously made the decision to alter the decision by the ABA League Disciplinary Disciplinary Judge, No. 90-2019/2020, made on 4 January 2020, with the following changes:

The fine in amount of 20,000 € was reduced to 15,001 €, based on the article 31.1 a) of DPABA;
Based on the article 31.1 c) of DPABA, the sanction of one point deduction is cancelled;
The decision of covering the costs of Budućnost VOLI for organization of the game and the arrival of referees and commissioner, issued based on 11.6 of the ABA League Bylaws (named under II Natjecanje-Datumi odigravanja utakmica) is cancelled, as it is placed automatically, without the need of issuing a sanction;
The fine for Crvena zvezda mts, of coverage of the costs of Budućnost VOLI for organization of the game and the arrival of referees and commissioner to the game of the 13th round between Budućnost VOLI and Crvena zvezda mts wil remain in place in case the ABA League responsible bodies do not make a decision of scheduling the game on a new date.
