Jordan Nwora took MVP honors as Crvena Zvezda won Serbian Cup

Crvena Zvezda won the Serbian Radivoj Korać Cup in dominant fashion, and Jordan Nwora confirmed once again he’s having a great season with the Belgrade outfit, winning the best scorer and MVP honors.

The former NBA and Anadolu Efes player shared his thoughts after winning the first piece of silverware with Zvezda.

It’s the first time I’ve had this kind of role in winning a title, so it obviously means a lot. I know it’s important not just for us, but also for our fans, so the feeling is really great,” said Nwora, per Meridian Sport.

Nwora is having a strong second season in Europe, after not being able to find his footing last year with Anadolu Efes.

Obviously, it means a lot to have a bigger role here and to be on the court. But like I said, this is just the Cup. At the end of the season we have the playoffs for another trophy, and I think winning at the end of the season is even more important. There are a lot of trophies we can win — this is just one. I hope we can win them all.

The Nigerian forward added the Serbian Cup to his resume, where he already has an NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.

Of course, the NBA… until we win the EuroLeague and the title at the end of the season, maybe I’ll say that’s something special. But winning an NBA championship in my rookie season was crazy. I had a moment like that young guy (Ognjen) Simjanovski — I hit a three in the Finals and was smiling just like him. Incredible. But today was great for our team and a good boost heading into the final stretch of the season.”

He now shifts focus to the last 10 games of the EuroLeague regular season, starting with his former team Anadolu Efes visiting Belgrade.

“I want to play and I want to win. That’s what I want to do. I was just talking about it — in four days we’re back in the EuroLeague, so we’re happy about this, but now we have to focus on what’s ahead and get ready for the push toward the playoffs.

Interestingly, Nwora gifted his medal after winning the Serbian Cup to one of the younger fans in the stands.

Yeah, I saw those kids — they obviously came to support us. I know it would mean a lot to them. Who knows, maybe he’ll be the next great Crvena Zvezda player. You never know. They support us, so I can support them whenever I can — that’s nice,” Jordan Nwora concluded.
