Due to the new ABA League format, Crvena zvezda and Partizan did not face each other in the first phase of the competition and only now met for the first time in regional play.
Partizan had won the only EuroLeague derby so far in front of its home crowd, but Crvena zvezda responded in the ABA League, defeating their archrivals 100-96 at the Belgrade Arena.
In the end, it was Joel Bolomboy who led the charge for the winning team, recording a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for a PIR of 22. He wasn’t the only Crvena zvezda player with a double-double, as Codi Miller-McIntyre added 13 points and 10 assists.
Jared Butler contributed 15 points, Ognjen Dobrić chipped in 12 on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc, while Semi Ojeleye and Nikola Kalinić added 10 points each.
On the other side, Shake Milton and Bruno Fernando led the way with 15 points apiece, Carlik Jones had 14 points and seven assists, while Tonye Jekiri, Sterling Brown, and Isaac Bonga followed with 10 points each.
