Daulton Hommes had his best game with the Baskonia jersey to lead his team to a big win. The American forward scored a season-high 24 points on 5-8 3-pointers as the Basque side beat Real Madrid 88 – 82 in a Spanish ACB League power clash.

Hommes produced half of his points in the fourth period where Baskonia overpowered Real 33- 24 to get the victory despite Markus Howard’s (injury) absence. The Blancos were up 55 – 61 early in the quarter and then Holmes fired three triples as Baskonia tied the score at 66 with seven minutes to play.

Rokas Giedraitis lifted Baskonia to 72 – 69 but Real reclaimed the lead. Holmes scored a bucket for the 80 – 79 with 1:29 to play and when the visiting squad once again took the advantage, Darius Thompson drained the go-ahead 3-pointer to make it 84 – 82.

Real didn’t manage to score in the remaining 39 seconds and suffered its first defeat this season in the Spanish championship after five games. Gabriel Deck had 17 points plus eight rebounds, Dzanan Musa scored 17 and dished out five assists, while Guerschon Yabusele finished with 16 points plus seven boards for the reigning champion.

Baskonia improved to 3-2 with this result. Matt Costello contributed 13 points, Arturs Kurucs dropped 11 points and Giedraitis scored 11 as well, seven in the final period.

Still somewhat shaken by the EuroLeague defeat to Zalgiris Kaunas, Barcelona faced some difficulties against Lenovo Tenerife but managed to get the win. Valencia prevailed over Obradoiro on the road.
