Joining Rio Breogan at the end of December to replace Justin Anderson, Ben McLemore has rapidly established himself as the leader of the Spanish team, bringing his talent on the court to keep it out of the relegation zone in the ACB.

Things got complicated on Thursday morning when he was found drunk while driving by the police in Lugo. Ahead of the clash with Unicaja Malaga in the ACB, he apologized via a statement released by the Spanish side.

“I have made a mistake that I am not proud of. Now, more than ever, my wish is to continue helping my teammates and the club, learn from this mistake, and set the right example for all those who believe in me, especially for the little ones”, he first said. “For this reason, I sincerely apologize and I ask that no one doubt that I will give my best, personally and professionally, to help achieve the goals that we all want”, Ben McLemore continued.

Since moving to Spain, the 31-year-old has scored 14.3 points per game over 48.7% from two and 39.1% from three in eight games played in the ACB. His best scoring performance came in a defeat against Real Madrid, producing a 21-point losing effort.

Between AEK and Rio Breogan, moreover, he has averaged 12.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in the Basketball Champions League, helping the Greek team advance to the Round of 16 and doing his best to avoid elimination from Pinar Karsiyaka in the Play-Ins for Rio Breogan.

Being selected with the 7th pick in the 2013 Draft by the Sacramento Kings, the American player spent a total of nine seasons in the NBA, averaging 9.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He also played with Memphis, Houston, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Portland.
