Leyma Coruna, the bottom-placed team in the Spanish ACB League, beat Barcelona 93 – 92 at home. It was the first game for the Blaugrana after their elimination in the EuroLeague playoffs by AS Monaco.
Yunio Barrueta led Coruna with 20 points, including the go-ahead triple for the 84 – 81 with 2:16 remaining. His team actually led even by 16 points, 67 – 51, in the third quarter before Barcelona made the comeback to tie the game down the stretch.
Barrueta made another 3-pointer to put Coruna up 87 – 83 with 1:03 to play. Brandon Taylor hit free throws for the 93 – 90 and Barcelona didn’t get an opportunity to tie the game in the last seconds as the hosts fouled Dario Brizuela to send him to the line for two attempts.
Beka Burjanadze added 15 points for Coruna. Jabari Parker led Barca with 21 points.
