As Marca reported, citing sources from the newspaper La Provincia de Las Palmas, the sheikh of Dubai Sulaiman Al Fahim, current owner of the football club Manchester City, wants to buy the 80% of Spanish basketball team Gran Canaria!

Samuel Yebra, the sheikh’s partner in the Canary Islands and owner of the Rumancan Group, has already informed the club of his associate’s plans. It seems that Al Fahim wants to create a team that will become very powerful in a short period of time. One able to claim the Liga Endesa title as well as having a regular presence in Euroleague.

In order to do that, he is willing to move a sum around 7 million euros to the club, through the Rumancan Group, owned by his partner, before summer.

The Al Fahim family’s fortune is estimated around one trillion euros and Sulaiman Al Fahim’s plans are not limited to buying 80% of Gran Canaria. He wants to invest 500 million in the Canary Islands region over the next 10 years, in real estate, tourism and leisure sector.  Becoming the owner of Gran Canaria is among his ambitions of “bringing general growth in the area”, as his partner, Samuel Yebra, said.
