Barcelona denied its intention to leave ACB, according to “Mundo Deportivo” but in order for this to happen, changes must be made in the Spanish league according to the same report.

El Mundo” previously reported that the Catalans and Baskonia are ready to leave the Spanish League if Real Madrid ultimately decides to exit. However, Barcelona is presumably prepared to continue in its domestic competitions provided ACB Regular Season games are reduced.

Ahead of the 18-team, 34-round 2019-20 campaign, EuroLeague clubs seem to desire fewer matches in their domestic leagues.

The controversial final Copa del Rey final is leading Real towards a separation from ACB altogether, but Barca isn’t threatening in a similar way but is working for a solution with fewer games in its domestic schedule.

Whatever the point of view, the following months are expected to be crucial on terms of EuroLeague teams’ relationships with their domestic leagues.

Besides, the Spanish clubs aren’t the only ones considering a possible exit or searching for other kinds of solutions and it has to be noted that ACB is by far the most successful and strong domestic league in Europe.
