The season budgets of all 18 teams in the 2025-26 edition of Germany’s easyCredit BBL were revealed by the league on Friday.
With player salaries projections narrowly exceeding €18 million, back-to-back defending champion FC Bayern Munich leads the BBL, holding nearly one-third of the league total. Overall, the season budget projections reach €48.42 million.
ALBA Berlin carries 4.69 and 11.42 million euros, respectively, with Telekom Baskets Bonn at 3.24 and 9.16, EWE Baskets Oldenburg at 3.17 and 9.08, and ratiopharm Ulm at 3.00 and 9.21.
The published list also features the salaries and budgets of the 2024-25 season for the teams remaining in the top-flight division of the country.
The financial data matches projections for the 2025-26 season as of October 15, and preliminary actual figures for the 2024-25 season as of June 30.
Salaries and budgets were publicly shared by the league in agreement with participating clubs for a second year in a row, aiming to contribute to necessary transparency.
“The clubs are planning with a total budget of €165 million,” recapped BBL managing director Stefan Holz. “This will ensure at least financial stability, and we even expect slight growth again by the end of the season.”
“Player salaries account for 36 percent of the total budgets,” he added. “This demonstrates, among other things, that the clubs are investing heavily in sustainable structures and measures, rather than primarily focusing on short-term investments in the teams.”
Holz also pointed to a financial weakness of German clubs.
“I would also like to draw particular attention to the contributions to the German Social Accident Insurance for the Public Sector (DGUV), which are very high compared to other European leagues. These contributions now amount to €9.4 million for the professional squads of all 18 clubs combined. This remains unacceptable and represents a massive strategic competitive disadvantage for our clubs in Europe,” he said.
