In the derby of Day 26 in the German league, Alba Berlin got a statement (72-91) win over FC Bayern Munich on the road, to improve its record to 21-4 while the home side slipped to 23-2 but still have the best record in the country.
With ten minutes remaining, the visitors went up ahead by seven points (56-63) and even increased this lead to double-digits (58-71). Djordjevic’s squad could not respond, and so Alba triumphed in Munich. The visiting side had five players in double-digits with Luke Sikma leading the way, ‘flirting’ with a triple-double: 14 points, 9 assists, 9 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Frankfurt, led by Philip Scrubb’s 23 points, got a much-needed victory on the road against Bonn (75-79) to remain in the top-8 and the playoff picture.
Gottingen played great basketball at home, scoring 105 points and, defeating Brose Bamberg. The hosts even went up by double-digits in the fourth quarter, and so the visitors could not come back. Gottingen had four players, on an impressive night. Brion Rush led the way with 25 points, while for Brose, Dorell Wright finished with 26.
Earlier on Sunday (25/03), Bremerhaven got past Braunschweig at home.
On Saturday, ‘red hot’ Ludwigsburg crushed Jena, while EWE Baskets Oldenburg barely came out on top against Medi Bayreuth.
